Ways to help
Donations
Oceanry’s mission is to empower the tiny mighty plankton by making Ocean Iron Replenishment a safe, independent and scientifically verified climate repair technique. Donations will help us move faster and build the scientific evidence needed to support policymakers, researchers, and the global climate community.
Why donations matter
- High ambition: We are working toward a long term goal: to make Ocean Iron Replenishment (OIR) a safe and internationally recognised climate repair approach with co benefits for ocean biodiversity.
- The only one in the EU: At the moment, Oceanry is the only European non profit organisation driving independent research on Ocean Iron Replenishment.
- We need to urgently scale climate repair techniques but they need to be backed up by data and science: Sound science is needed before any climate repair technique can be governed responsibly. This work will in turn require stable and transparent funding.
What donations are used for
1. Preparations for research experiments in the Atlantic Ocean
This research project studies how Ocean Iron Replenishment affects phytoplankton growth, carbon capture and biomass formation, aerosol formation, and biodiversity and food web interactions.
Preparatory work will include a wide range of activities from defining a suitable research area and renting and equipping a research vessel, to setting up research containers and field laboratories, assembling a multidisciplinary scientific team, documenting the work through communication and filming, and producing scientific reports and policy relevant outputs.
Your support will enable research carried out together with scientific partners from multiple disciplines.
2. Building awareness and policy engagement
Oceanry works to raise awareness about Ocean Iron Replenishment among policymakers, researchers, and the wider public. This work will include engagement at the EU level, contributing to policy discussions, and aligning with broader marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) goals. Clear and transparent communication is essential to ensure that climate repair is discussed responsibly and grounded in evidence.
3. Administration
We aim to keep administrative costs as low as possible so that the majority of funding goes to research, permits, and essential operations. Transparency and efficiency are core principles of how we work.
How to donate
Oceanry accepts voluntary donations of any size, from five euros to one million euros.

- Oceanry holds a fundraising permit. Permit number RA2026/366.
Together, we can strengthen the ocean’s ability to regenerate, restore biodiversity, and support the natural carbon pump that helps keep our atmosphere in balance.
Every contribution, big or small, helps the tiny mighty plankton do what they do best.
Note: We are currently working on additional ways to donate internationally. At the moment, we rely on EU bank transfers, with more options coming soon!
Other ways to help
We are building a diverse and international community of people who want to support ocean based climate solutions. Ocean Iron Replenishment requires many different skills and perspectives, far beyond science alone. It does not matter if you have one hour per month or more time to give. We have both small and larger roles, and every contribution helps.
If you are even briefly considering this, reach out to us. We cannot do this alone. You can contact us through the link below and tell us what skills you have and how you would like to contribute.
Are you a student or a recent graduate looking for work experience? Volunteering or internships with Oceanry can offer valuable experience at the intersection of science, policy, and communication. Note: At the moment, we are unfortunately not able to offer paid internships, but we hope this will change in the future.
Skills we are especially looking for
Science
- Scientific and educational contributors who can translate research into accessible public content, including scientists and marine biologists and journalists.
Community & partnership:
- Community and engagement contributors, including community builders and partnership builders.
Creative
- Creative contributors such as content creators, video makers, photographers, storytellers, ocean minded filmmakers and documentarists.
Rigorous research is essential to understand climate repair techniques properly. At the same time, scalable solutions are needed to address the >2 teratons of excess CO2 already in the atmosphere. Partnerships help make this work possible!
We partner with companies that share the same values and want to take climate repair and restoration work to the next level.
We are especially looking for
- Corporate partners to join our research journey. This can mean contributing expertise, equipment, data, or financial support. For example, an engineering company may support vessel operations, a maritime company to provide access to ships, or a satellite company may contribute observational data. From sea to space, many capabilities are needed!
- B Corps and companies in the maritime, logistics and shipping, and agriculture sectors.
- Enterprises that want to collaborate on communication and public engagement to increase awareness of Ocean Iron Replenishment and responsible climate repair research.
